Is now really the time to fast?

I'm all for 18 - 24 Hour fasts normally but not for those without underlying medical conditions or at this time of panic due to an epidemic deadly virus on the prowl because it can lower the immune system and put the body into Fasting mode. This can increase the risk of serious illness or even death❗

After 24 hours it can become the more serious starvation mode. At this point, a person's metabolism slows down, and their body begins burning muscle tissue for energy...😰

Taking a break from eating for 8 to 12 hours does improve metabolic profiles like blood sugar and blood lipid levels. However, you wouldn't need to skip any meals or snacks to get the real benefits. A break from eating for eight to 12 hours is more or less a break from eating during the time when you're sleeping, and that's it all that's needed. The problem is without consistent or adequate nutrition, this metabolic process can backfire and not eating overnight makes sense in as intermittent fasting does, in general, but maybe not when you need your immune system to be at it's optimum.

So, for those breaking their fast after 24 hours, it is generally safe to go without eating for a day unless other health conditions are present.

I would never recommend water fasting as water is Life.

Water is of major importance to all living things; it helps to flush toxins from the body in some organisms, up to 90% of their body weight comes from water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.

Build your immune system up at this vital time don't break it down further.

Hope this helps Blessings & love
